Our Focus
Access
The ECC through the BCCEC provides three dimensional access to our membership: access to business partners through networking opportunities; access to legislative leaders and policy makers; and access to opportunities through training, education, and workforce development. Demonstrable success in the BCCEC’s Access initiatives include the Power Breakfast series, trade portal, an interactive directory, the SME help desk, workshops and numerous facilitated forums on points of common concern.
Advice
Our mandate to advise our membership starts with an obligation to collect and distribute statistical and other information in relation to industry, trade, and commerce. The BCCEC has ongoing research initiatives that provide timely informed positions to assist its membership in navigating the success of their businesses. Additionally, we aim to collect and collate information on industrial relations matters to assist members with employee relations. We also act as arbitrators in the settlement of trade disputes relations when called upon to do so.
Advocacy
Representing our members on pertinent national and statutory committees like the National Ease of Doing Business Committee, National Economic Council or the National Tripartite Council are critical facets of advocacy for the BCCEC. We have defended and facilitated our members’ right to collectively opine on legislation and other measures affecting industry, trade, and commerce in the Bahamas with demonstrated results.
We also represent employers nationally with regard to the operation of existing laws, legislative proposals and the activities of government which may affect the interest of employers and to seek representation on all statutory board and committees whose mandate or initiatives may impact the socio-economic and environmental concerns of employees.
